AM, Fireworks at dusk. The many dimensions of diversity in Oak Park are on display when the annual Independence Day Parade steps off at 1. July 4 from Longfellow Park at Ridgeland Avenue and Adams Street. The parade marches north on Ridgeland to Augusta Street, turning east to disperse near Whittier Elementary School at Harvey Avenue. Among the entries typically scheduled to march are social and special interest groups, community groups, athletic teams, politicians, businesses and service organizations, children. The Parade route is approximately 2 miles. The parade will step off at 1. PM, going west on Central to Harvard, South on Harvard to Madison, East on Madison to Summit, North on Summit to Park, West on Park to Ardmore.
